Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Grade B and Grade C Security Officer include:

• Protecting designated individuals and locations from harassment, physical harm, vandalism, and any unauthorized or abusive behavior.

• Monitoring and reporting any significant incidents promptly to the company.

• Completing and submitting detailed incident reports following any unusual or security-related events.

• Recording visitor details accurately for all individuals entering the facility.

• Ensuring all security equipment (CCTV, alarms, access control systems) is functional and well-maintained.

• Assisting in implementing new security measures as required.

• Maintaining a professional appearance by wearing a clean, neat uniform at all times while on duty.

Minimum Requirements and Skills

Usually to qualify for such a position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• South African citizenship

• Matric Certificate or equivalent qualification

• Proficiency in English and Afrikaans (verbal and written)

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in the security industry

• Valid PSIRA Certificate (Grade B or C)

• Clear criminal record

• Strong commitment to safety and security

• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills

• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure

• Neat and professional appearance

• Physical fitness (ability to stand and walk for extended periods)
